Now that Installous has shut down for good, as its developers decided to call it quits after their forums went stagnant. Installous was one of the biggest piracy app for iOS till the date. Shutting down does not mean the doors for Jailbreak and related apps have been closed.
Sure enough, today TNW has informed about quite a few new iOS piracy applications that can install cracked apps on even non-Jailbroken devices. Yes, you are reading this with your own Eyes! Perhaps one of the biggest players is an application called Zeusmos. Zeusmos is a must need service that charges users to download pirated applications. As TNW has elaborated, “it charges this fee for a ‘cloud plan’ to install ‘cracked’ apps and to provide users with a license and provisioning profile that allows them to install these pirated apps.”
Zeusmos was actually created by a 15-year old kiddo, who is also behind another product development called InstaSign. This Mac-only application also gives you the same function of installing cracked applications on your iOS device without Jailbreaking but Zeusmos takes it to another level by essentially replicating Installous.
Like every other services which claims to allow you to install apps without performing a Jailbreak, a developer UDID is required. To get this done, you are required to purchase a UDID activation from a 3rd party website, such as UDIDRegistrations.com (a site that also appears to be run by the same developer).
TNW was actually able to follow up with the developer of Zeusmos and apparently its actual intent is to solely code sign applications. He mentions that developers who have had their apps rejected in the App Store can distribute their apps through Zeusmos(that’s a tight slap to apple standards, although we don’t know necessary or unnecessary!) in its Exclusive Apps section. Whatever Zeusmos’ and other services out their say about their natural intent, unfortunately people will be using this services for only one collective goal — Cracked apps.
Here, we have some mixed responses. A good portion of those who pirate iOS apps are underage and don’t have a credit card, or live somewhere where it might not be possible to legally purchase apps which simply means developers are not loosing any money on sales because of piracy. However, some people do not purchase apps legally for not showing up tiny charges to be shown up on their account and some intentially do not want to spend money on digital goods. Let us have your thought on this. Some of you must be desperately waiting for jailbreak to be available for iOS and now you are having this solution. What do you make of it? Comment below.
